Bharatiya Prakratik Krishi Padhati (BPKP)

BPKP is a National Programme and a modified version of PKVY (Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana). Agragamee implements this programme with the support of the Government of Odisha, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Empowerment.

Target Area

17 villages across 5 Gram Panchayats of Tentulikhunti Block, Nabarangpur District, Odisha.

Target Group

1000 Households (HHs) from 17 villages of Tentulikhunti Block, Nabarangpur District, Odisha.

Overall Objectives

To promote traditional indigenous farming practices that free farmers from externally purchased inputs. The programme emphasizes on-farm biomass recycling, biomass mulching, use of cow dung and urine-based formulations such as Bijamrit and Jivamrit, regular soil aeration, and complete exclusion of synthetic chemical inputs.

Key Achievements & Progress
  • 1014 progressive farmers trained on Natural Farming across 17 villages.
  • 55 training programmes, 2 exposure visits, and 1 state-level workshop conducted.
  • 1014 farmers engaged in preparation and field application of Jeevamruta, Bijamruta, and Handi Khata.
  • PGS Certification (Green-1 & Green-2) completed for 1014 farmers.
  • 412 farmers cultivated aromatic & indigenous paddy over 361 hectares.
  • 426 farmers cultivated millets across 382 hectares.
  • 7-day on-field practical training including exposure visits completed for LRPs & CRPs.
  • Annual 2-day capacity building training completed for CRPs, LRPs, Expert Farmers & SLRPs.
  • 20 cluster-level capacity building programmes completed under BPKP.
  • Five rounds of training provided to each of the 1014 farmers.
  • 1014 farmers and 10 local groups mobilized for PGS certification.
  • Online registration, soil analysis, and organic conversion documentation completed.
  • Peer Appraisal Group field inspections conducted.
  • Residue analysis completed in NABL-accredited laboratories.

Project is situated in Tentulikhunti Block in Nabarangpur District and Kashipur Block in Rayagada District of Odisha, India. Altogether, 44 villages in 7 Gram Panchayats are included in the project.

Target Group:

The project targets a total 2075 HHs in 44 villages of Tentulikhunti and Kashipur Block in Nabarangpur & Rayagada District in Odisha.

PKVY(PARAMPARAGAT KRISHI VIKASH YOJANA/INDIGENOUS FARMING DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME)

It is a great opportunity and challenge for the Agragamee that the Government of Odisha has sanctioned a project to cover 3500 acres in Rayagada and Koraput Districts to help small land holders/ tribal farmers take up their traditional agriculture to check the influx of Chemical Fertilizers and Pesticides. The farmers in 70 clusters will take a vow not to adopt anything Chemical and promote Organic and ecological Farming. This 3-year project will cover mostly rain-fed upland where Millets, Pulses, Oilseeds and Vegetables will be grown intensively. The farmers will be given training to produce their own manures, vermin-compost, bio-pesticides etc. Conservation of local seeds with bio-diversity will also be promoted. PKVY will show case the NRM related activities where soil, water and forest will play a role in ensuring Food and Nutrition Securities.
This project not only aims for soil health but also empowers farmers institutional development through cluster approach.Participatory Guarantee System(PGS) through PGS-India program is the quality assurance and value adition for the direct marketing of organic product.
